FULVIO Guido Aviani, DE LUCA errico: Da Caporetto al Monte Nero/From Caporetto to Monte Nero. 1915-1917
Italienisch/Englisch, 200 Seiten, zahlreiche s/w-Fotos, Farbkarten, broschürt, Großformat
The intent of this book is to recount the main Italian military operations around Mt. Nero (Krn Vrh, in the Slavic language) and the village of Caporetto (Kobarid, in the Slavic language), through a large array of previously unpublished photos from our personal collections. We believe that the images contained in this book wil help understand, better than any words ever would, the incredible struggles and suffering that somehow unified soldiers from the Italian, Austro-Hungarian and German Armies (the latter only is so far as the Battle of Caporetto-Kobarid).
For over two years, their soldiers fought a static war, over a particularly harsh and demanding mountainous terrain, that claimed almoust as many lives as the suicidal frontal attacks carried out, at the same time, just further south along the border, on the Carsic plateau around the cities of Trieste and Gorizia.
In keeping with the intend of providing an accurate historical background, we certainly could not omit to talk, albeit in a syntetic form, about the Battle for Cporetto (Kobarid), a key battle on the Italian front.
This book was concieved as a tribute to all the humble soldiers, irrespective of their nationalities, who shed their blood in this section of the front during the Great War and whose ssacrifices remain, to this day as indelible scars along the valley and peaks of this part of Europe.
